The Gastonian Inn is located at 220 East Gaston Street in Savannah's historic district. It is comprised of two adjacent mansions which were built in 1868. In clean-lined Regency-Italianate style, they were constructed of local handmade bricks and then stuccoed white. The freestanding house at 220 was built for Savannah insurance broker R. H. Footman and the one next door, 218 East Gaston was built for wholesale grocer, Aaron Champion. The buildings are connected by an elevated walkway above a formal garden.
Each of the inn's large and well appointed rooms includes a sumptuous private bath, working fireplace, individually controlled heating and cooling system, telephone, and cable TV.
In December of 2000 the Gastonian was selected for membership in Relais & Chateaux, the international association of luxury hotels and restaurants.
