The Inn is next door to a wildlife sanctuary on Nantucket. There are two private beaches—one on the Atlantic, one on Nantucket Bay, and The Wauwinet’s grounds considt of dunes, sandy paths, lawns. The Wauwinet originally opened in the mid-19th century as a restaurant for patrons arriving by boat. It evolved into a hotel and soon became a Nantucket landmark. The Inn is trimmed in the weathered gray shingles that characterize Nantucket dwellings and features a restaurant, a 254-foot dock, and a wide range of complimentary recreational options.
The Wauwinet consists of twenty-six bedrooms and a cluster of individual cottages. The guestrooms are decorated with quilts, flowers, pine armoire’s, and flowery chintz.
