Opened in 1903, the Portage Point Inn is positioned on a wooded peninsula, with miles of sandy Lake Michigan dunes and beaches to the west and the protected waters of Portage Lake to the east. The two lakes are connected by a wide navigable channel.
Listed in the National Historic Register, Portage Point Inn consists of 14 buildings on the 18 acres with over 1000 feet of lake frontage on Portage Lake. The Main Hotel, Dining Hall, Lobby, Casino Pavilion, and Terrace House, are located on the shore of Portage Lake. Ten cottages of various sizes are tucked in the woods which separates Portage Lake and Lake Michigan.
A Marina, capable of handling yachts up to 100 feet in size, is partially completed.
The rental fleet includes: sailboards, sailboats, fishing boats, ski boats, classic wooden boats, snowmobiles, x-country skis and bicycles.
