The stately facade embodies the style and grace prominent Bluefield families built in the late 1800s. The Compton family built the home and ownership passed through such prominent families as the Maynards, then finally to Mrs. Helen Ryan. When Mrs. Ryan put the house on the market in April 1995, it was then restored and opened as an inn. From Victorian-style furnishings to Austrian crystal chandeliers and a wrap-around verandah
Large dining room, the oversized tubs, have been restored, as have the wavy glass panes on the massive French doors.
